Dr Rebecca Rhead

Co lead for Co-lead for Workstream 1: Care for Care Providers and Innovative Methodologies and New Data

Dr Rebecca Rhead is a Lecturer in Society and Mental Health at King’s College London, specialising in quantitative social science and population mental health. Her research focuses on the social determinants of mental health and tackling structural inequalities in access, experience, and outcomes across health and social care systems.

Within CARE-HSC, Rebecca co-leads the Care for Care Providers workstream and the Innovative Methodologies and New Data core theme, bringing a data-driven approach to understanding and dismantling systemic inequities. Her work bridges research, policy, and practice — using evidence to drive meaningful change in how care is designed and delivered.

Beyond CARE-HSC, Rebecca leads the CONNECT study (as part of the Marginalised Communities and Mental Health programme at the Economic and Social Research Council Centre for Society and Mental Health) and the CORE project, funded by Impact on Urban Health, which supports community-led research initiatives. She also co-leads the Narrowing Inequalities Platform within the UK Research and Innovation Population Health Improvement Consortium, working in partnership with public health bodies, mental health services, and community organisations to improve mental health equity.
