Helen Welsh

Multimedia Innovation Developer

Helen is a Multimedia Innovation Developer at King’s College London, working on the Collective Action for Race Equity in Health and Social Care project (CARE-HSC). She joined the team in May 2025, bringing a unique blend of expertise in healthcare and creative media production.

Before joining King’s, Helen was Media and Virtual Reality Producer at Maudsley Learning, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, where she developed a wide range of media and immersive learning experiences for the NHS and global organisations.

She also contributed to the TIDES Phase 2 Study (Tackling Inequalities and Discrimination Experiences in health Services), a King’s-led initiative addressing equity and inclusion in healthcare.

With over 10 years’ experience in film and television content creation and over 5 years’ experience in nursing within the NHS, Helen combines technical skill and healthcare knowledge to create engaging and impactful materials.

She has a particular passion for applying eye tracking and human–computer interaction research in Virtual Reality, and is highly skilled in designing immersive, evidence-based experiences that support education and innovation in health and social care.

“I am driven by a commitment to equitable research that centres lived experience, using eye-tracking and virtual reality to understand how systems are seen, navigated, and felt by those most often marginalised.”
